Within the Australian Government's National Eating Disorder Research and Translation Strategy 2021-2031, this area was deemed one of seven key priorities based on emerging research revealing heightened incidence of eating disorders and a worsening illness burden. The objective of this review was to provide a more thorough grasp of the worldwide scope and impact of eating disorders, which is intended to improve future policy decisions.
Peer-reviewed studies, published between 2009 and 2021, were identified through a systematic rapid review process, encompassing ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Medline (Ovid). Following consultations with field experts, the research team established clearly defined inclusion criteria. Literature selection, guided by purposive sampling criteria, primarily focused on strong evidence including meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and comprehensive epidemiological investigations. Locations in a 1D model are shown to be convertible to and from points and regions in 2D and 3D models, including instances like a segmented patient gut CT scan.
This research's outputs include 1D, 2D, and 3D models of the human gut, available as JSON and image files accessible to the public. To illustrate the connections between models, we've developed a demonstrator tool that facilitates exploration of the gut's anatomical space for users.
